The McKenzie County Soil Conservation District visits every school in McKenzie County. We work with all ages, from Kindergarten to 12th Grade. During our education and outreach events kids learn about S.W.A.P.A
When teaching about Soil, Water, Air, Plants, Animals, (S.W.A.P.A.), we cover everything from soil layers, water tables, wildlife, and the microbes in the soil! All things that are involved with our natural resources spanning Kindergarten to High School.
Along with our in-class education, we also host an array of educational days; we have Kindergarten Day on the Farm, 2nd Grade Farm to Table Day, 5th Grade Conservation Day, Special Assignment Pizza, and Bat Night (where we teach all about one of our favorite pollinators, bats!).
We make an effort to help spread the knowledge to all the kids in McKenzie County, it's so important that they know about our precious natural resources, where their food comes from, how to protect natural resources, and about healthy soil, so that future generations can enjoy them too!
